Running a raffle with a prize? Announce how the winner will be picked before you sell the first number, and check your state’s raffle rules. Many organizers tie the result to a public drawing like their state’s Pick 3 or Pick 4. See the three ways to draw
When this raffle number picker is the right tool
- Picking a winner among the comments of a giveaway post, once you’ve numbered the entries.
- A live drawing at your gala, game night or church event, on the big screen.
- Door prizes at the team banquet or a class prize, where everyone agreed on the method.
- Choosing turns, teams or the order of presentations.
How to make sure nobody doubts the result
- Announce the method first. Say from day one how the winner will be picked. Changing it two days before the draw looks bad, even if you mean well.
- Record the draw. A short screen recording showing the range and the result is worth a thousand explanations.
- Post the draw record. Copy it and paste it in the group with the date and time. It’s in writing, with witnesses.
Draw only among the numbers you sold
This is the detail most people miss. If your board has 100 numbers and you sold 43, drawing from 00 to 99 means there’s a 57% chance the winner is a number nobody bought. You’d have to redraw, and that’s when the complaints start. Use “Only the numbers I sold”, paste your list, and the winner always comes from there.
